Cookie policy
Necessary cookies only. We count page views without one.

The short version
This site sets only strictly necessary cookies. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising cookie and no cookie that follows you anywhere. Because none of our cookies are optional, there is nothing meaningful for you to accept or reject, which is why you are not made to click through a consent wall to read the site.
We do count page views, and we do it without a cookie. Cloudflare Web Analytics is explained in its own section below. An earlier version of this page said we would ask for consent before adding any analytics. We did not add a consent step, because what we use stores nothing on your device and cannot recognise you. If we ever add something that can recognise you, it will be behind a proper opt in and this page will say so before it loads.
What we actually set
In full:
- Team session: set when a committee member logs in to the admin area, so the site knows it is still them between pages. It is signed, it expires, and ordinary visitors never receive it.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: set by Cloudflare when a form runs its anti-spam check, to tell a person from a bot. It is a security measure, not a tracker, and it does not follow you between sites.
- Stripe: when you are on the giving page, Stripe sets its own cookies to process the payment and prevent fraud, under its own policy. They are there to stop your card being used by someone else.
The cookie notice
The first time you visit, a small notice points you at this page. Dismissing it stores a single flag in your browser so you are not shown it again. That flag lives only in your own browser and is never sent to us.
How we count page views
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which pages people actually read. It is the only measurement on this site, and it works without a cookie.
It records the page you opened, the site you arrived from, your rough location at country level, your browser and device type, and how fast the page loaded. It does not set a cookie, write to local storage, or give your browser an identifier of any kind. That means two visits by you look exactly like one visit each by two different people, and we cannot tell them apart.
We use it to answer plain questions, such as whether the link in our email actually worked. We do not use it to build a profile, and it is never connected to your donation or to your entry in the alumni network.
Turning cookies off
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block ours, you can still read the whole public site, but card payments and the admin login will not work, because both depend on a cookie to stay secure.
Fonts
Our typefaces load from Google Fonts. That does not set a cookie, but Google does receive your IP address when the fonts download. We mention it because it is a request leaving your browser to a third party, even though nothing is stored on your device.
